Clinical Biography
Cassie Connerty, DMSc, PA-C, MPAS, is a board-certified physician assistant in the Texas Center for Esophageal and Foregut Surgery within UT Health Austin’s General and Gastrointestinal Surgery Clinic. With more than 20 years of experience in surgical and specialty clinical practice, she specializes in preoperative and postoperative evaluation, first-assisting in the operating room, and providing longitudinal care in both clinic and hospital settings.
Cassie Connerty earned her bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Colorado, her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Kentucky, and her postgraduate doctoral degree in medical science from A.T. Still University, where she received the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Capstone Award of Excellence.
Cassie Connerty has extensive experience in breast health, high-risk patient management, genetic risk assessment, and multidisciplinary oncologic care, providing a strong foundation for comprehensive surgical practice. Her clinical work includes evaluation and management of a wide spectrum of patient concerns, from diagnostic assessment to malignancy and longitudinal care coordination, and she collaborates closely with imaging, surgical, and medical specialists to support patient-centered treatment planning. In 2010, she established a High-Risk Breast Clinic, which she led for more than 15 years. On a national level, Cassie was selected as one of the first Physician Assistants to serve on the inaugural Advanced Practice Provider Committee for the American Society of Breast Surgeons, contributing to the development of the APP breast curriculum, and she has presented research at national meetings, including studies on Oncotype scoring and tumor characteristics. She was named Physician Assistant of the Year by Baylor Scott & White Health in 2023 and is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Associates and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
