About This Center

The Texas Center for Esophageal and Foregut Surgery within UT Health Austin’s General and Gastrointestinal Surgery Clinic diagnoses, manages, and treats conditions of the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestine, including heartburn and esophageal disorders, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, swallowing disorders (achalasia), hiatal hernias, and esophageal cancer, in adult patients (18 years and older).

We use the latest laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic surgical technologies to provide specialized procedures for both benign (noncancerous) and malignant (cancerous) conditions. The Texas Center for Esophageal and Foregut Surgery care team offers personalized treatment plans focused on improving digestive health, restoring esophageal function, and enhancing your overall quality of life.

Preventative services, including routine screenings and examinations, are also available to reduce the risk of developing cancer and increase the likelihood of early detection.
